This week-end was sketch fest, and it was 48 hours long. I have to say, I like it a lot better having the extra time, were I can do other things that need to be done around the house and still have plenty of time to sketch. This go around, my daughters and I sat together and sketched, while hubby and son played videos games. It was really nice and I think we will have to do it that way more often.

Happy 2012 Everyone!!!! May this year fill you with much happiness and love.

I love the beginning of the new year! It gives us a fresh start and clean slate to fix what we did not like about last year, or to try and make the improvements to our life that we need to make to be successful, happy and blessed with love.

Now I do not do the resolution thing, I set goals for myself instead. I find it is easy to follow through with them.

Some goals I want to work on this year are -
1. Loss some more weight and be healthier (I started this last year and have made great progress)
2. Get back on track creating and not let fear of not being good enough stop me
3. Simplify my life (combine blogs and sites, so I'm not trying to keep track of 1000 things)
4. To not let others get me down with their actions or words

What are some of your goals or resolutions for 2012?

Happy Holiday & Merry Christmas

Just wanted to wish everyone, A Very Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays, depending on what you celebrate.

We celebrate Christmas. Now that the kids are older, we open our gifts on Christmas Eve, and stay up most of the night, having fun and playing games. Then we sleep for a little bit and have a big old breakfast, before family and friends start to show up. By the time the day is done, I feel like I could sleep a week, lol

Black Friday

Hope everyone had a wonderful day yesterday. We did here, it was a nice quiet time with the family laughing, playing games, and watching movies together. Dinner was so yummy, the turkey just melted in your mouth and the spicy mustard glaze was to die for. We all had a big laugh, because hubby forgot about his rolls in the oven, they were so hard you could have used them as baseballs, in fact they kinda were when my eldest went, " oh I think I could eat one, they can't be hard" so hubby tossed one to her & she missed catching it so it hit her and she said ouch, and then everyone started tossing rolls at each other,lol

So today is Black Friday, the big day for shopping all those sales. Not for me though, I don't like going out shopping in the big crowds, so I do most of my shopping on line or hand-make gifts for Christmas. We also have the tradition for decorating the house & putting up our Christmas tree.

So what do you do on Black Friday? What are some of the traditions you have for after Thanksgiving passes to get ready for the up and coming holidays?

Wishing everyone(to those who observe the holiday), A Very Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Hope your day is filled with much love and happiness.

The number one thing that I am very thankful for(not just today, but everyday) is having my awesome husband, my 3 crazy & beautiful children, for family & friends & God in my life everyday.

I think another would have to be that one hour a day, between 3 a.m and 4 a.m, the total quiet in the house where it is just me awake, the dogs cuddled at my feet, that first sip of coffee(a must have to prepare for the storm that would be 2 teen girls & 1 almost teen boy getting up..never know what kind of mood they will be in, so coffee is a must!!) & I prepare for the day ahead and just have that little moment of me time.

What are you thankful for, not just today, but everyday??

Meet Mr. Chang - The Pumpkin Keeper

This doll was fun fun to make. I had started out wanting to make a female, but the felt had different ideas, and ended up being a male, then I named him Edgar, and once he was finished did not look like an Edgar anymore, so I'd like you to meet Mr. Chang...Mr. E.P Chang - The Pumpkin Keeper.

Mr. Chang is the first doll I have ever done in felt. He was made using core wool for the base of his body. Then I added merino cross bats in different colors for his skin tone, hair and clothes. He has plastic green cat eyes, and is sewn to a wooden support and then then it all was felted to him. His base is wood, that was painted in washes of brown paint and metallic antique copper paint on top. It's topped with green craft felt that was glue and cut to fit. The pumpkins used core wool and merino cross batts.
Hope you enjoy him as much as I do....

Next on my list of things to do, is my bottle doll which I will start tomorrow. Have yet to decide yet if it will be paper clay or felt. :)

I have been trying to get this post posted for a few days, first an earthquake hit(threw me off cause we see a lot of earthquakes here), then my new niece was born(Welcome to the world, Julianna Elizabeth, Aunt Tara wishes she was down there to see ya) a couple other things happened & I had didn't have the time to post it, lol
Well anyway...I started work on my first felt doll. I have felted animals & such before, but never tried my hand at a doll. It is coming along better & quicker then I thought it would, and have had no problems so far(except forgetting to put the backing of the eyes on so they would stay in place) I started out wanting to do a female, but the felt had different ideas, and it seems it wanted to be male, of well....Will be adding the feet and finishing up on his head today, and maybe start work on the clothes & base tomorrow or Sunday. I am thinking of calling him Edgar. What you think???

Thrifty Finds

This week, Hubby & I went looking around at some of the thrift shops around us to see if anything caught our eye to be worked into some creations. We didn't find much, but hubby found a clock he feel in love with(and just had to have, and it even works), and I found some old books for me to use in some of my mixed media creations(even though I am really thinking the Poe book will be going into my collection of Poe instead, lol) and some glass bottles that I have a few ideas for. So we truly didn't find much around here, and in a couple weeks and I'm feeling up to it, we are going to hit some of the yard sales and flea markets. ;)

Jeaniene Frost's This Side of The Grave

Jeaniene Frost's This Side of The Grave came out today, and I'm awaiting my copy, should be here in about 45 minutes. I have been waiting for this book to come out and have read the first 50 so pages online. I am dying to finish it. I can tell it is going to be good, and Cat & Bones have done some growing up with the the relate to each other.
I love Jeaniene's writing and no matter what she writes about it draws me in. I am so waiting for her to write about Vlad and I hope at sometime there will be a book about Ian. yummy yum!!!

This Side of The Grave by Jeaniene Frost - Loved, Loved, Loved. The chemistry between Cat and Bones is great. Cat is really growing up, and there is a very hot scene between them starting I think around 199. Though the preview of the next book, did not grab at me with the overwhelming want to read, it was kinda on the boring side, but still I will buy it as soon as it comes out because I LOVE this series.

When my hubby came home the 1st day I was working on him, he said oh my god, how cute is he, and that he don't care what I say, he is keeping him, lol So that gave me my theme to work on him.

Vanilla Cinnamon Chip Cookies

Being I really do not have time today to do much creating, I thought I would just do some baking. I want to share my Vanilla Cinnamon Chip Cookie recipe with you.

Vanilla Cinnamon Chip
2 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon(a little more or less to taste depending on your taste)
1 package of vanilla instant pudding
1 cup(2 sticks) vegetable shortening
2 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspon vanilla extract
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 1/2 to 2 cups (12 oz bag = 2 cups) of Milk Chocolate Chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Blend together flour, vanilla pudding, cinnamon, & baking soda. In a different bowl, cream the shortening, & sugars together. Then beat the eggs & vanilla extract into the shortening & sugars. Slowly blend in the dry ingredients. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
Drop on to ungreased cookie sheets by spoonfuls about 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes & transfer to wire rack to cool. Make about 4 dozen cookies.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving..Ours was great & we enjoyed being with the family. I was really thankful, that I am finally on the mend and can get back to creating. The last month really sucked being suck in bed, doing nothing but sleeping and coughing my head off. Though it did give me lots of time to think of new painting and other creations for the new year, and can not wait to begin them..Speaking of, I can believe that it is almost December all ready, were did this year go???

This week, I'm going to be working on some crochet and knitting that I want to have done by next week, beings some of them will be Christmas gifts & I have an order to fill for scrubbies too. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Meet Hope
Thank you so much for stopping by, this doll was created for a challenge(hosted by Diana, from Down Hidden Farm Lane on Blogspot. You can find other listings there too) and a part of her sale will go to the Susan G Komen for the Cure. You can bid on her Here.

Hope, is created from lightly stained coffee muslin. She is hand-sewn, has a painted face with some colored pencil touches, a wooden heart with a painted pink ribbon on it, and pink yarn hair. Her dress is pink, with an apron that is pink with pink ribbons on it. Her legs are painted pink and sanded, along with her feet which also has a dark pink thread for laces. She is approx. 18 inches tall & has a ribbon attached to hang her. Hope is meant to be displayed only, she is not a toy and should not be played with. She comes signed & dated.

Thanks, So much Diana!!!! I loved everything.....The lemon cookies were just perfect...I had been having a craving for lemon cookies just the day before and the tea is just wonderful!!! The room spray and tarts, smell good enough to eat, lol and one tart scented my entire downstairs, I think my one daughter said she could even smell it half way upstairs, lol And I just love my Annie!!!! She is perfect and will be sitting on my new desk when it comes...

Yay!!! Sandy got her package and loves everything, so now I can post pics of her annie!!!

Here is her annie...She's hand sewn...lightly tea stained...dresses in fabric that reminded me of watermelons....

And here are all her goodies....I had a heck of a time trying to find anything that was just watermelon..what happened to all the watermelon candy and goodies that stores use to sell??? Some very tasty, watermelong gum...some raspberry tart cookies....some hot chocolate..... jolly ranchers....A watermelonbody scrub and parfait from on of my fav places, Cozy Moments & 3 tarts that I made..Hope you really enjoyed everything, Sandy!!!

Yesterday was my eldest daughter's 8th grade graduation ceremony....Thea is now a freshman!!!
Boy, where does the time go....it just seems like yesterday she was starting kidengarden and now she only has four years of high school to go....They grow up way to soon....

Well, only one day of school left, then I will been able to get back to creating....I have been dying to start some projects, but with everything going on I have had to wait...Hope everyone has an awesome week-end!!!!

I hope everyone had a very happy holiday & new years...
I had a wonderful time spending it with my family even though I was sick. I'm finally starting to feel better & can move around some again without the pain. Just wish it would warm up a little around here...I am all ready dreaming of spring......

My Goals for this year are(does not do resolutions).......Lose weight
Do lots more art
Get Organized
Complete a clay doll(me & clay don't seem to go well together, lol)
Write more
Get my website revamped & totally up and running
To continue with last years goal of learning different languages
Complete a reborn baby
Continue on learning new techniques on my crafts
To complete the designs for the new products I want to do

I completed almost all of my goals last yet and up to be able to do the same this year.

I loved everything!!! Thanks so much, Sandi!! I have potholders and oven mitts just like the platter and was so happy to see the platter. I did not see that platter anywhere around!!! The soap is wonderful!! The kids dug into the candy right away, lol
